WHO
My given name is Sundev. It is not hard to pronounce, not nearly as hard as most make it out to be. The Sun is from that giant ball of light above us. The dev comes from the Sanskrit deva or devus, meaning shining one, but ironically is easiest to pronounce by saying the first syllable of devil. Among the many labels I wear, web hybrid seems most relevant to my work. Both sides of the web creation coin appeal to me. My love of math from an early age has helped me comfortably slip on a coding hat, while the less concrete discipline of design draws out my creative side. Yet, the further I delve into each of these aspects, the more I realize the same processes and logic can be applied to both.
BACKGROUND
I have been designing and developing websites and applications for the last nine years. Most of this work has focused on Adobe Flash based RIAs, but lately I have branched out, working in a number of different environments using multiple languages. Initially, I spent my time working as a freelance website designer. Through this process, I learned to work efficiently, balancing speed with attention to detail. Lately, I have worked on more robust internet and intranet based applications for various companies. The steady and longer term nature of this work has helped me develop more logical and organized methods for working, allowing me to hone my processes.
PROJECTS
I enjoy the unique, especially when it comes to navigation. There is a balance between pushing the user to act and pulling the user in. While pulling a user in requires more effort and thought, you usually gain more of their attention. But, each project is different, and often uniqueness must be set aside for a clear concise interface. In my most fulfilling work, I have reached a balance, with each side complimenting the other. Currently I have a fairly steady workload, but am always open to projects that step out of the box. I finally launched the website. Illuminated Pill has come from concept to completion. There were a lot of stops and starts, but I enjoyed the process.

One of the bees got out and stung me. I was finally able to catch him with a cup and piece of paper. Luckily the bee was not harmed.

A catering and events company, Lortsher & Vlasic needed a site to mirror the attention to detail given every event they host. With integrated video, this site gives the user a true sense of the mood Lortsher & Vlasic creates. Needing it done in a hurry, I was able to deliver the finished product in one week.

Home to photos by Tim Kemple, kemplemedia.com presented some of the best action sports photography around. This site gave you an intimate view of the travel and adventure surrounding this young photographer. It is completely updateable, allowing Tim to keep clients informed on his latest assignments and excursions, wherever they may take him.

Where I spend my current work week, I am in charge of their 3D Viewer as well as the processes surrounding model creation. Working on many applications in many languages, I have helped them grow as a company and given them the ability to process an ever increasing workload with tools tailored to speed up efficiency and automate as much as possible.

An online e-zine for all those active fringe dwellers without a proper home. Born out of an idea hatched with a friend who's spent the last few years living out of his Westfalia, climbing across the country, it will have articles, news and information for those who can't seem to fit on the grid and are forever looking for the next destination.

Based out of Salt Lake City, ASET USA distributes airbrushes and spray guns for all your custom painting needs. A pillar of the custom painting industry, ASET commissioned me to create a site that would capture the essence of the custom car phenomenon. With a calendar to keep clients informed of upcoming workshops, a map of North American distributors, and a gallery of professional artists' works, this site allowed ASET to keep it's users informed on all aspects of automotive spraying technologies.
